Immersive Learning lab

Augmented Reality (AR) Lab at the Centre for Immersive Learning (CIL) offers mechanical engineering students a transformative educational experience by overlaying digital information onto the real world. This cutting-edge technology bridges the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications, making learning more engaging and effective.

By integrating AR into the curriculum, students can visualize complex mechanical systems and components in a more tangible and interactive manner. For example, AR can project a 3D model of an internal combustion engine into the classroom, allowing students to explore its intricate parts in detail. They can rotate the model, zoom in on specific components, and even see how the engine operates in real-time. This hands-on interaction with digital objects helps to solidify their understanding and retention of the material.

Virtual Reality (VR) tools enable students to immerse themselves in fully digital environments, offering unparalleled learning experiences. At the Centre for Immersive Learning (CIL), VR is utilized to create simulations of environments that would otherwise be too expensive, rare, or hazardous to access in real life. This technology allows students to safely explore and interact with these virtual settings, providing a risk-free platform for experimentation and learning.
